A delightful inexact pair of French bouillotte lamps featuring three lights and green tole shades with gilded foliage accents. Originally made for candles before electricity, they are now powered for European power. The shade height is adjustable by a screw system featuring the molded brass arrow tail at the top.
Each arm is adorned with scrolling acanthus leaves and the lamps are elegantly finished with a ring at the top. A handsome duo to add to a study or library to infuse practicality of ample light and charming history for both modern and traditional interiors. Lightbulbs not included. The Bouillotte is a French card game that appeared in the eighteenth century and is based on three of a kind.
It was very popular during the French Revolution and again for a few years beginning in 1830. It was then also popular in the United States. The bowl-shaped base allowed players could place their pawns on it. Note any loose candle-style socket covers will be carefully packaged and can be straightened with care upon arrival.
