Napoleon III portrait of a woman in gold frame 27½" x 22½"

SKU: 16405

US$1,408
This unique portrait from the 1800s retains all its original gilded framing. Described as having distinctive or unconventional features to her disposition, it's important to note that art, particularly portraiture, often aims to capture the unique characteristics and individuality of the subject. It encourages viewers to engage with the piece and form their own interpretations based on their individual perceptions and experiences.

In this example, perhaps there is a bit of mischief in her eyes or a playful sensibility. In this interpretation, she may take on the likeness of a character from a period novel wearing her finest fur frocks for her portrait while perhaps scheming to be married first before her sisters. Circa 1800s / late nineteenth century. The art medium is pastel and the artist is unknown. Note there is a little water damage at the top of the painting but it does not interrupt the main subject.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
Approx. overall 27½" high x 22½" wide x 2" deep
