Dating from the 1930s, this rare 'Coussin de dentellière' was used for hand making lace from fine cotton and silk thread. This meticulous work was done all over Europe from the eighteenth-century. The cushion is used to support the lace as it is made with pins separating out the patterns then the reels of thread are masterfully woven slowly growing the lace.
