Antique English silver & cut crystal biscuit container 5½"

A delightful antique biscuit box featuring pretty etched glass sides and a star-shaped cut glass decoration to the base. The top is crowned with a silver-plated hinged lid and two J-shaped handles on either side. Most likely of English origin and stamped with a silver hallmark on the side of the lid next to the hinges featuring a cherub holding a bow and arrow like cupid ensconced in a three-point shield and accompanied by the number "15879". A charming piece to add to a collection or fill with candies or mints in an entry hall for guests. Please note the lid has been re-glued. Minor scratches consistent with age and use.
