This classic alabaster female bust dates from the nineteenth century. Signed by Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1725-1805).

Greuze's father was an architect who hoped for Jean-Baptiste to have a business career. However, he was eager to draw and pursued his passion. He became a pupil of Charles Grandon (1691-1762) and attended the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture.
